The Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup, one of the most exhilarating and widely anticipated tournaments in the cricketing calendar, is upon us once again. This prestigious event brings together the world’s top cricketing nations to compete in a fast-paced, high-energy format that captivates millions of fans around the globe. With its unique blend of skill, strategy, and sheer athleticism, the T20 World Cup promises to deliver thrilling matches and unforgettable moments.
For the first time, the USA is a joint host along with the West Indies. A brand new venue, The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium has been created in New York for the occasion. The upcoming T20 World Cup is just the beginning of what promises to be a long and beneficial union between cricket and the United States.
Sporting fixtures often provide the perfect opportunity for corporate entertaining, and cricket matches are no exception. Cricket grounds also make excellent event venues, usually combining a rich heritage with modern facilities.

Lord’s Cricket Ground

The Lord’s Cricket Ground in London is possibly the most famous cricket ground of all and is often referred to as the home of cricket. Although the current building is not on the original site, it still dates back to the early nineteenth century.
Lord’s is the home of the MCC Museum, which is the oldest sports museum in the world and contains the world’s most celebrated collection of cricket memorabilia, including The Ashes urn.
The ground offers a variety of rooms for hire including the Long Room which is found on the ground floor of the pavilion and has been described by Lawrence Booth as “the most evocative four walls in world cricket”. Players walk through the Long Room on their way from the dressing rooms to the cricket field; this walk is notoriously long and complex and players have been known to get lost on their way to bat!

Edgbaston Cricket Ground

Located in the heart of the country, Edgbaston is ideally suited for easy access by road, rail, or air.
Edgbaston was the first English ground outside Lord’s to host a major international one-day tournament final when it hosted the ICC Champions Trophy final in 2013. With permanent seating for approximately 25,000 spectators, it is the fourth-largest cricketing venue in England
The venue itself offers an impressive choice of 39 meeting spaces ideal for an intimate dinner to a major exhibition. You can expect the very latest AV technology along with everything you would expect from a modern conference facility.

Emirates Old Trafford

Old Trafford has been a cricket ground since 1857 and became the second ground in England to stage test cricket in 1887. It has had a long and prestigious history and offers a fascinating choice as a conference and meeting venue.
The Point, Old Trafford’s distinctive £12 million conference centre, and at 1,000 seats one of the largest multi-purpose conference facilities in North West England, opened in 2010. It is positioned immediately west of the Pavilion, and hence, is northwest of the cricket pitch.
With facilities to handle events from 10 to 2,000 people, and an on-site four-star hotel. Old Trafford in Manchester, is one to add to your conference shortlist.

The Wanderer’s Club

Whilst not strictly a cricket ground, if you are looking for an event space outside of the UK with cricket-themed names, have a look at what the Wanderer’s Club in Johannesburg can offer.
Established in 1888, like the other venues we have mentioned, this site has a formidable history. Since those historic days, Wanderers has provided a place for the people of Johannesburg to come together and celebrate life. Regarded by many as an extension of their own homes, the Club is at the centre and heart of sport, recreation, and conference activities not only in Johannesburg but in South Africa.
Home to 15 sports, the Club combines sporting heritage with cutting-edge conference facilities. The Club’s beautiful spacious banqueting, function, and meeting rooms are ideal for any occasion. Whether looking for a venue for your company brainstorming sessions, seminars, team building, training sessions, corporate exhibitions, or meetings, you will find a suitable space within the complex.
The T20 World Cup is a celebration of the sport’s diversity and dynamism, featuring teams from different corners of the world. Embrace the spirit of the Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup and explore the myriad possibilities that cricket grounds offer as exceptional event venues.
